Our story begins with founder Ricky Wong. He graduated in 2002
with a degree in civil engineering from Universiti Teknologi
Malaysia. He worked for a while in the construction industry to
gain exposure and experience. And experience was not the only
thing he gained, as he discovered many players in the industry
were cutting corners and using inferior materials. All at the
expense of the clients to make underhanded profits. This he
couldn’t stand for as the integrity of the building was
compromised, the safety of the occupants harmed and the legacy
of the builder questioned. The building would stand for now but it
was only a matter of time before serious defects were detected.
He wanted to change the way things were done. No more
compromised construction methods. No more substandard
materials. No more shoddy workmanship and definitely no more
nightmares for the clients. Thus, RIC BUILDER was established
to be a reliable and honest one stop construction company in
Malaysia. Working with a solid work ethic, Ricky Wong does not
compromise on safety or quality and always ensures the
satisfaction of his clients. He gives a very common example – the
popping of tiles. This usually happens after the home owner had
moved in a few years. Essentially what happens is entire groups
of tiles in the living room or the kitchen, lifts up and out of its

original position and looked like an earthquake has happened.
The home owner is shocked to see this and is forced to retile his
home at a very expensive cost. A completely undeserved loss
and headache. This happens because the tiler was not a
professional tiler. He was only a general worker assigned to do
the tiling work. “We can’t accept this. We must use a professional
tiler to do the job. Because the tiling work that they do every day,
gives them the experience to make the cement with the correct
recipe, a recipe that lasts the test of time. Any ordinary cement
making is not up to the job, the result is popped tiles,” says Ricky
Wong. “Every project that has my name on it has to pass the test
with flying colours,” he added with pride.
